It would have been more realistic taken out of an MMA context. In a pure grappling contest, I believe Ronda not only could, but would sub Cain nine times out of ten, despite the weight difference.

.......and before you all say I'm crazy, its no different than Ms. Scuffles rolling with/subbing a white-belt male, who has a proportional weight advantage. The difference in skill-level is comparable.

It would be an embarrassment for Cain and meh @ his holding a "black-belt".....

Agreed. There are some exciting fighters at that weight who could never make 135. Similarly, some 125ers would probably prefer to cut over bulking-up.

Some interesting news floating around.

Jessica Eye's split descision over Sarah Kaufmann was overturned and made a no contest because Eye failed a drug test. Her fine was tiny and she's only got a probationary suspension, so it's seeming likely that she got done for something that isn't performance enhancing?

Julianna Pena trashed her leg, tearing every ligament you can name and her hamstring.  Dana White went off about it basically saying she got assaulted by a training partner, but her gym (perhaps naturally) denies that there was anything unusual going on and that it was an accident in the course of normal training.

Kaufmann didn't get that fight as a replacement, instead Raquel Pennington will now fight Jessica Andrade.

Tough break for Pena, sounds like she's going to be out for quite some time.

That sucks for Pena. The guy responsible should be held to account, IMHO

Depends on how it happened. The only report I've seen says that she was standing with a guy on her back, tried to hit a switch to dump him off and her foot didn't move when all the weight shifted. I can see how that would result in the injuries that are reported, and really it could only be described as a really unlucky accident if that's the case.

Of course if he was roughing her up just to be a tool then he needs slapping around. I doubt we're ever going to get the actual story unless Pena comes out with it though.
