Ahh Alexis. STOP BLOCKING PUNCHES WITH YOUR FACE AND SUBMIT SOME PEOPLE!

Seriously, she drives me nuts. Better submissions than anyone in the division not named Rousey and she insists on standing up and getting punched in the face by everyone. Granted she's better at stopping punches with her face than anyone in the division too, but ONE OF THESE IS A BETTER TACTIC THAN THE OTHER!

That said, this is probably the most interesting matchup in the division for Rousey just at the moment. Davis is more likely to latch onto a mistake on the ground than most. Rousey would have to screw up to lose but I'm still pretty sure she's capable of that screw-up if she doesn't pay attention.

Yeah, this is a fight that screams "holding formation". Davis is an ok grappler with a bad fight IQ, and after McMann decided to fight like an idiot against Rousey as well, Davis really is the only option at the moment. The UFC are barely even trying to sell this fight (which is silly) but after Davis, who's left? Nunes? They really need to be trying to make this division more than Rousey and they are not...

UFC 172: Bethe Correia defeats Jessamyn Duke by unanimous decision, then goes on to say she wants all of the Four Horsewomen!

She makes fun of their hand-sign....one down, three to go!

Bethe indeed has an awesome ass!

She rode the horsewoman out of town, samba style.

I like Jessamyn Duke, but let's face it, she's not very good. She was outstruck 2:1 by a much smaller girl and instead of using those long legs to her advantage, she allowed them to be nice targets for the Brazilian.

Bethe seems to be a fun fighter, but her lack of size and finishing ability will probably be exposed by some of the more established girls in the division.

The Shayna Baszler of 4-5 years ago would probably have the tools to beat Correia - Shayna is a natural 135er with OK striking and good catch wrestling/submissions.

Just lately though, she's looked pretty washed up in her losses to Davis & Pena.

I think Bethe would grind out a decision against Baszler. Talk of going up against Ronda or "The Supernova from Moldova" is just publicity hype. There's talk of her dropping to straw weight, anyway.

BJJ world champion Bia Mesquita challenges Ronda Rousey

Ronda Rousey might have an opportunity to prove her point.

In a recent interview on The Great MMA Debate podcast, Rousey said "judo fighters that are good on the ground never really got the respect they deserved" and that she "can beat any BJJ girl in the world, gi or no-gi, any weight division, black belt all the way in any rule setting."

The current lightweight and open class jiu-jitsu world champion, Bia Mesquita heard her quotes and wants to challenge the UFC bantamweight champion.

"She's completely wrong," Mesquita told MMAFighting.com. "She has no idea of what is like to fight a jiu-jitsu world champion in the black belt division."

Mesquita weighs around 141 pounds during jiu-jitsu competition and was willing to move to MMA only for a chance to defeat Rousey.

"I already considered moving to MMA only to get her, but I don't have to think about it anymore since she's willing to compete in a jiu-jitsu match," she said. "I think she gets too much credit and is not even that good. Her striking is regular, and she has a lot to improve on the ground. It would be great to fight her and show what a real ground game and jiu-jitsu are."

Rousey (9-0, 8 submissions) takes on jiu-jitsu black belt Alexis Davis at UFC 175 on July 5, but another armbar finish won't impress Mesquita. Competing against world-class grapplers is a different challenge, according to the Brazilian grappler.

"I think it would be tough for her to surprise me or any other world champion in the black belt," she said. "It's a whole other technical level. It goes way beyond that armbar she does to girls that are inexperienced on the ground. But a fight is a fight, who knows what could happen."

Metamoris 4 will feature UFC stars Chael Sonnen and Josh Barnett on Aug. 9 in L.A., and Mesquita feels it's the perfect platform for her challenge.

"It would be great if Metamoris could put up this challenge. Nobody would miss it," she said. "It would be an honor to represent the female jiu-jitsu (against Rousey). I would also stop this talk that she's unbeatable."

"I would rather fight her with the gi, but I'm a three-time no-gi world champion in the brown/black belt," Mesquita added. "Whatever she wants, gi or no-gi, under Metamoris rules or any other rule, I'm ready to take this challenge and honor jiu-jitsu."

lol @ these butthurt BJJ chicks trying to stay relevant  ::gf:: Olympic Judo draws from a far deeper worldwide talent-base than BJJ. R3 is an A-level athlete who would ragdoll Mesquita by tearing through her guard and armbarring her within seconds. These women should kiss R3's butt cheeks for allowing them the chance to momentarily bask in her glory........

Ronda's reaction is probably something like this:

I don't know why these BJJ chicks (it seems to be the Brazilian ones) are taking this so seriously. Ronda talks just to open her mouth especially when she's got a fight coming up.

Davis looks scared to me.......visibly shaken and a slight downward look, before smiling at the cameras. R3 wants to hurt her bad, I just know it.

Stewie! You still talk nonsense! Why would a BJJ world champ need to "stay relevant"? BJJ is even more of a niche sport than MMA, she's never been relevant! But really, what do you expect her to say if someone asks her about Rousey, you expect her to say "Oh no, she's way better" or something like that? Because that's dumb. "Come fight me and prove it" is the best answer, and you should be hoping to see the fight rather than talking nonsense because it would provide a better opportunity to see how good Rousey actually is - something that fights with Tate or Davis will never really show.

Also, "in seconds"? You're implying that Miesha Tate is a better grappler than Mesquita? At least try to be sensible sometimes!

QuoteDavis looks scared to me.......visibly shaken and a slight downward look, before smiling at the cameras. R3 wants to hurt her bad, I just know it.

She's not scared. She's thinking "I'm so going to use my 'bruise her fists with my face' technique on this girl!". Alexis Davis is too dumb to be scared. ;D

QuoteR3 wants to hurt her bad, I just know it.

Stewie she's a professional, not a psycho. She wants to win and just like every other athlete in the world she'd prefer her opponent to not be irretrievably broken at the end.
