That was probably Ronda's best performance to date – and against a girl renowned for being "tough" and who never gives easy fights.

My brief take/review:

Davis meandered her way down to the cage, looking all smiley and overwhelmed. Ronda, by contrast, marches to the cage like a boss, totally in the zone and looking ready to sort out that beta girl who dared to step into the champ's lair.

With the match underway, Ronda wasted little time showing her improved striking as she lamped Davis with an overhand right that rocked the Canadian before following up with a knee and then rag-dolling her to the ground with a trademark judo throw. Keeping a secure headlock, Rousey then proceeded to punch Davis's lights out before the ref mercifully stopped the woman vs. girl mauling after a mere 16 seconds.

So Ronda walks away from another highlight reel finish with the title still around her waist and another BJJ girl's "black belt" over her shoulder.

Can't see anyone beating Ronda for a while and that includes Cyborg.

LAS VEGAS - Ronda Rousey apparently wanted to prove a point about her striking.

The UFC women's bantamweight champion put on a swift and lethal show Saturday night in the co-main event of UFC 175 at the Mandalay Bay Events Center, needing just 16 seconds to finish Canada's Alexis Davis.

The victory earned Rousey, who has been heavily jeered in her recent fights, a standing ovation from the fans in attendance.

"Hopefully everyone keeps cheering for me," Rousey said. "Thank you."

Rousey tagged Davis (16-6) with a right hand at the outset, landed a big knee in the clinch, and then delivered a picture-perfect judo throw. When they hit the ground, Rousey grabbed a headlock and delivered punches until referee Yves Levigne waved it off.

"I box six days a week and I grapple and wrestler four days a week," Rousey said. "So I have more to catch up with on my striking."

After the bout, Davis tried to get up while still wobbly. Lavigne attempted to put her back on the mat until finally, Davis sat down on a stool. Davis left the cage under her own power.

Rousey, with her fourth successful title defense in 16 months, added to her impressive list of accomplishments. She improved to 10-0. She's won all her fights via finish. She's won nine of her 10 bouts in the first round.

It was also the fastest bout of Rousey's career. She had won two previous bouts in 25 seconds apiece.

In the post-fight interview, Joe Rogan put Rousey on the spot and asked if she wanted to headline the Aug. 2 card at Staples Center in Los Angeles, which lost its main event of Jose Aldo vs. Chad Mendes on Friday.

"I've got knee surgery scheduled," said Rousey. "But I'll ask my coaches and we'll see what they say."

Stewie! You still talk nonsense! Why would a BJJ world champ need to "stay relevant"? BJJ is even more of a niche sport than MMA, she's never been relevant! But really, what do you expect her to say if someone asks her about Rousey, you expect her to say "Oh no, she's way better" or something like that? Because that's dumb. "Come fight me and prove it" is the best answer, and you should be hoping to see the fight rather than talking nonsense because it would provide a better opportunity to see how good Rousey actually is - something that fights with Tate or Davis will never really show.

I disagree. Anyone who is at the top of their profession wants to stay "relevant" and professional athletes, no less - no matter how small the org, they're still "World Champions". R3 obviously believes she could defeat any female BJJer at her own game, so why not say it? With her schedule, she doesn't have to go and take time out of MMA and a movie career to lose money and prove it.  I'm tired of hearing about Mesquita or Kyra "thinking" of transitioning to MMA and kicking R3's ass - it's all talk on their part - at least R3 is media-savvy enough to use her press comments to advance her own career.

It's up to the BJJ community to go after her - she's the Alpha Female. Make her a serious $$$,$$$ offer to fight all those women she's called out under Metamoris rules and she'd be there like a shot.

Ronda can clearly punch. Davis usually manages to stop lots more punches with her face than that.

Kyra's pregnant so she's not going to be hitting the MMA scene any time soon, and if she does she's going to probably be landing at 115 in the UFC anyway. She's smaller than 135.

Basically the BJJ girls can't get to Ronda in MMA in any reasonable amount of time - you can't get a UFC title fight without half a dozen wins under your belt at least, so it's basically a soft callout if Ronda isn't going to compete in BJJ. There's more money in MMA obviously, but hey, we can hope she'll go to Abu Dhabi one of these times or Metamoris. It's basically the only way we're going to get to see her fight against a real quality grappler because there's still none in her division in MMA.

My point stands. If she's going to get quoted as saying she thinks she can beat any BJJ girl at BJJ then it's pretty much obvious that the BJJ girls are going to be quoted saying that they disagree. What else can you possibly expect?

Can we all just agree that that fight was fucking hilarious? Once Rousey got the take down, Davis seemed completely unaware of the possibility that she might, like, get punched in the face AGAIN and just clung onto her until she was out. Deer-in-the-headlights stuff.

I think you might be wrong: she was probably pretty out of it since that first punch standing, then it was really hilarious...pooor poor show from Davis.

Btw one thing is certain: we were looking for one woman in that division with one punch ko power to give Ronda some trouble...then here it is...Ronda herself!

I don't know what to think...it's pretty embarassing for all of those other girls, cause given Ronda is an athletic phenom, it's so unreal she have never striked in her life one single time and in just 2 years she clearly becomes the better striker of the division.
REMEMBER DAVIS IS A PRETTY LOW IQ FIGHTER BUT SHOULD HAVE HAD SOME CHIN...SHE TOOK THE BEATING OF A LIFETIME FOR 3 STRAIGHT ROUNDS FROM THE WIDELY CONSIDERED BEST 135POUNDS STRIKER IN WMMA (SARAH KAUFAMAN) A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO BUT NEVER GOT EVEN DIZZY FROM THOSE HITS AND HERE COMES RONDA WITH JUST ONE SINGLE FUCKING PUNCH TURNS HER LIGHTS OUT!!!!!!!!!

I mean, isn't this crazy? It's like MJ goes to play baseball and after 2 years bests the better of all baseball players at their own game. Of course Ronda should be waaaaay better on the ground than these girls....but becoming by far the best striker of the division in a couple of years isn't a bit too much????

This means only 1 thing imo:
- provided Ronda has the best work ethics/dedication/tenacity/mentality (combined with athletic prowess) in any female sport today, WE COMPLETELY OVERESTIMATED THE COMPETITION OF WMMA AT THIS POINT IN HISTORY....THEY'RE MERE AMATEURS IMO...ALL OF THEM...IT'S EMBARASSING...IT'S RIDICOLOUS!!!

That overhand right landed right on the button, and like I said, Ronda can clearly hit. Davis was probably most of the way out before the throw - certainly wasn't in any shape to defend herself anyway.

I'm a bad person. I read that Ronda did in fact break her hand on Davis' head and couldn't stop myself from having a giggling fit. Alexis! Your game plan almost worked to perfection! Next time you just gotta break her hand with your face while NOT getting knocked out!

Seriously, girl hasn't blocked a punch in her life.

Considering that R3 was suffering from pre-existing injuries coming into the fight (cyst on her knuckle/knee injury), her dominance is even more praiseworthy.....

70% R3 > 100% Davis  8)

The latest news is that she broke her thumb rather than her hand.

Here's what R3 thought of Davis' performance, immediately post-fight.....  ;D

Alexis is at best, in denial and at worst delusional......maybe she has concussion from the "schoolgirl-headlock" pounding!  :o

That's good news for us fans...

That's bad news...for Holly's arms, which will eventually end up on Ronda's collection... ;D;D

Unless Ronda is so coocky and superior that she wanna demonstrate she can strike with Holm and purposely keep the fight standing...come on she needs to start giving herself some sort of handicap, like Edmond her coach said: "Ronda can beat any girl of the division with one arm tied behind her back". And that's incredibly true
